Debenhams SS2018 Collection: The Kew Gardens of Fashion

Ever since Debenhams made its debut in Malaysia, getting the latest creations from renowned British fashion designers such as Julien Macdonald, Matthew Williamson, Preen and Henry Holland have been easier. Furthermore, the affordable price points do not break our budgets, too.

This coming spring and the following summer, an array of gorgeous spring/summer collections from notable British fashion designers are waiting to be taken home.

Juxtaposing beautiful hand-etched florals with bold block colours, Studio by Preen invited you to stroll within its magnificent spring garden with leading pieces such as silk sulphur yellow and parrot blue silk floral dress and the lilac drop waist smock dress.

Taking tropical hues of paprika red, sulphur yellow, bright green and brilliant pink as his palette, Jasper Conran conjured a lavish selection of summery style confections. Fluid sateens, polished cotton, structured poplin and premium knitwear are crafted into the season’s silhouettes whilst skirts are full and waisted.

Rainbow block print full skirt and block colours trouser suit aside, Conran upscaled the prints with bold stripes, abstract prints and meadow florals, referencing the catwalk trends.

Softer silhouettes dominate John Rocha’s RJR collection and embellished with delicate frills, romantic pussy bows and feminine sleeve details. Relaxed monochromatic palette with handcrafted finishes reflects the designer’s core handwriting. Whimsical hand-painted florals injects colour and true femininity on key pieces such as trouser suit and floral tie midi dress.

Living up to its celebrated name Star, designer Julien Macdonald will send you into a Hollywood glam reverie with punk-inspired daytime dressing and red carpet-worthy evening pieces.

Chains, lace and studs add drama to daytime dressing, while decadent beading, contour panelling and body-conscious silhouettes stimulates the high octane catwalk glamour.

On the other hand, bright neon tints and digital prints are mingled with key design details and tailoring returns with shoulder sharp blazers, tuxedo dresses and signature stud finishes.

No.1 by Jenny Packham SS18 collection spells opulence and lavished with intricate embroideries, shimmering fabrics and bright summer florals. Full sequin styles are the key to Packham’s look with hand-beaded mustard floor-sweeping gown as the leading item.

Giving a fresh take on ocassionwear, simple silhouettes are peppered with delicate hand-painted florals and Jenny’s elegant handwriting is presented through complementary separates.

Matthew Williamson recreates the beauty of a blooming English garden with his MW by Matthew Williamson collection.

Replete with Bohemian nuance, Williamson fashioned his “garden” with Bohemian maxi dresses and chic jumpsuits in soft pink and navy undertones. These pieces are adorned with coloured English florals. Spicing up the MW SS18 collection is the rich beading and decorative embellishments that are perfect for summer parties.

For Savannah Miller (sister to actress Sienna, for the uninitiated), her Nine by Savannah Miller collection encapsulates a beautiful nostalgia of the season.

Mimicking the activities of the season, the day starts with sunshine yellow wrap dress with sky blue cloud print; Victoriana lace blouse paired with denim imparts relaxed vibe in the afternoon; stripes punctuates separates whilst soft sequins shimmer in the emulates the stars in evening. Must have key pieces from Nine include Savannah’s signature embroidered jacket and lace kimono.

Poppy prints with “bug” detail on summer tee, asymmetrical dress, signature slogan tees with fun jitterbug nod and floral trouser suits promise an electrifying spring/summer fashion adventure at H! by Henry Holland.

Grab its glitter stripe pleated skirt for eye-catching street style dressing. Fancy for a milkshake but afraid of the fat content? Red Herring SS18 will quench your thirst with sweet milkshake tones.

Pretty postcard details on co-ords, vibrant parrot motifs on sundresses and zesty lemon details on rain mac are enticingly enriched with a touch of embellishments for some texture. Look out for the pearl-embellished denim and broderie anglaise finishing, too!

When saturated colours meet power dressing, the result is a powerful statement-making collection by Principles. White broderie anglaise shirt dress and palm prints in soft pastel tones with sorbet stripes are dedicated to the purists.

Meanwhile, contrasting palette of serious monochromes and bold brights provide an alternative look with retro block prints and multi-stripe separates.

And for girls who are looking forward to dressing up for the spring fling, Debut’s SS18 collection offers head-turning statement looks. Sorbet pastels and bright summery hues tinged the prom-worthy collection. Gowns are floor-sweeping and tulle dresses are hand-beaded. Vibrant cutwork lace dresses mimics the style of 16 Candles and The Breakfast Club leading girl, Molly Ringwald.

The Designer at Debenhams’ spring/summer 2018 collection will be making its way soon to Debenhams’s store near you.
