Burberry Goes Fresh Off The Runway with September 17 Collection
Burberry’s effort in revolutionising fashion retailing is certainly what
most fashionistas have been waiting for.
Gone is the pain of waiting for the
arrival of the collection in stores (usually six months after the seasonal
presentation) and envying those lucky celebrities who are wearing the pieces on
red carpets ahead of you.
In is what we can call fresh fashion – the ability to
purchase your favourite looks of the season, just hours after its runway debut.

Last September, fashionistas flocked in London to view Burberry
September 2017 ready-to-wear and accessories collection for men and women.
Held
within the Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell, a two-storey magnificent old
courthouse, the show was attended by a coterie of fashion who’s who such as
supermodels Cara Delevigne, Kaia Gerber, Jourdan Dunn, Naomi Campbell, Kate
Moss, celebrity Lennon Gallagher, Kris Wu, Stormzy, Koharu Sugawara and
renowned fashion photographer Jüergen Teller to name a few.
Within the expanse
of the almost 250-year old building, guests were treated to a collection that
is quintessentially British in spirit yet imbued with cosmopolitan silhouettes
Void of graphic prints and frivolous detailing as compared to the
previous seasonal collections, though albeit the looks are bit pared down,
Creative Director Christopher Bailey has remained faithful to the revered codes
of the house.
The silhouettes are relaxed and made to reflect the archetypal
mood of British life as they transition from autumn to winter. Working palette
consisting winter sorbet shades of pink, green and blue are mingled with black,
camel, red and navy and clashed with diverse textures.
On the other hand, lending a strong air of its thoroughbred British
heritage is the liberal application of British fabrics such as tartan and
vintage check wool, Aran, Fair Isle and Argyle knits on pieces such as
sweaters, jumpers and cardigans with rainproof overcoats in various hem lengths
in plastic.
A touch of tailored elegance is present in full length tailored coats
– single and double – and equestrienne-influenced herringbone cotton riding
shirt with detachable tie-neck and pin. Giving winter dressing a touch of
collegiate fun is the wool ceremonial coat with shearling detailing.
The coat
is also transformed into skirts with different permutations – shearling rimmed
wool, regalia detailed wool and just wool. Tulle provides the base for dresses
and richly embroidered in floral motifs and lined with silk.
Likewise, Chantilly
lace provides sensual, semi-lingerie feel to slip dresses with fluid A-line
shape. To warm those dainty feet, indulge in the warmth of knitted wool and
cotton socks, paired with either tartan sandals with cone heels and loafers with
kiltie fringing.
For men, knitwear dominates the collection. Fair Isle wool in vivid
colours are fashioned into cropped tank tops and paired over cashmere wool
mouliné patchwork sweater or riding shirt in herringbone cotton with tie-neck.
Trousers range from equestrian-esque riding trousers to cropped chinos and
wide-legged. Burberry’s signature vintage check is present in almost all looks
such as riding shirts, trousers, Harrington jacket, and car coats.
Kiltie
fringed leather loafers in arresting colours and riveted leather clog boots
lend clashing appeal between high street and high fashion, modern and
traditional.
Adding some punch to the entire look is the Giant reversible toat in
tartan and The Satchel in leather and exotic hides. Inspired by the British
gardens, the oversized crystal-chandelier brooches grace both men and women’s
collection whilst earrings adds high drama and inevitable fashion statement to
the overall looks.
Burberry September 2017 ready-to-wear and accessories collection for men
and women are available now at all Burberry stores, selected mixed-brand
retailers and leading department stores worldwide.
