20 years ago, a makeup artist by the name of François Nars began his journey into the realm of beauty with 12 shades of lipsticks.
Christening his brand using his surname, NARS cosmetic began to evolve from just shades for the pouts to a full-fledged beauty brand that counts superstars such as Madonna and supermodel Naomi Campbell as its fans.
Not only that, his foray into beauty also made him a top-notch makeup artist sought after by fashion designers for runway makeup during the fashion weeks!
Ask any die-hard beauty connoisseurs if they were familiar with the oh-so-controversial names such as “Orgasm”, “Deep Throat”, “Striptease” and “Sex Machine”, rest assured they will immediate tell you that those names are rightly belonged to none other than NARS cult products.
Located at the R-Studio of the ever chic Omotesando shopping district, the NARS pop-up store featured NARS Holiday Collection for 2014 that is extravagantly brimming with seductive hues as well as limited edition palettes that are quirkily named such as Adriatic, Canberra (after the capital of Australia), Barents Sea, Algonquin, Corsica and Almeria, just to name a few.
However, pumping more joy into the special occasion was the presence of the founder of the brand himself, François Nars. Flying into the Land of the Rising Sun from New York, Nars was there for a meet-and-greet event where fans had the opportunity to have their NARS products signature by the beauty maestro.
A party was also thrown in his honour by NARS Cosmetics and was attended by Japanese celebrities and Tokyo’s crème de la crème. NARS Holiday Collection 2014 is available now at all NARS Cosmetics outlets and counters worldwide.
