The Wait is (Close) to Over ... Alexander Wang x H&M Debuts Tomorrow!

Tonight, die-hard fans of American fashion wunderkind Alexander Wang will be pithing up tents in front of two H&M flagship outlets for the launch of his capsule collaboration collection with the chic Swedish high street fashion retailer.

Like its previous collaborations with notable designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Versace and Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, the Alexander Wang x H&M collection has sparked an immediate outburst of anticipation among avid fashionistas worldwide.

Even Wang himself, who currently helms the seat of Creative Director for French-Spanish couture maison Balenciaga, was thrilled by the collaboration.

“I am honoured to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations,” said the designer early this year. “The work with their team is an exciting process. They are very open to push boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. “

The designer further added, “This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”

Combining practicality with sporting edge, Wang and the H&M creative team created a slew of chic capsule offerings, ranging from ready-to-wear right up to accessories and shoes.

Befitting the current fall/winter season where layering plays an essential part in the art of the season’s dressing up, the ready-to-wear pieces are crafted out from cutting edge materials that reflect today’s advancing technology such as scuba and traditional knits.

Unlike the previous designer collections where the lines between genders are visible, Wang has blurred the lines by offering pieces that can be worn by both sexes such as jackets, sweaters and accessories.

For women, the pieces are made to revolve around the lifestyle of urban women who are active around the clock.

The silhouettes are fluid with vibrant sports elements. The bulk of the womenswear collection is made of ensembles while dresses are uniquely made to emphasis the fairer sex’s allure with body-conscious approach.

On the other hand, Wang’s take on menswear is both tough and edgy. Breakthrough must-have pieces that every man should have in their closet this winter would be the motorcycle jacket that is crafted from scuba material.

Though it may be heavy for our climate, its structured appearance adds masculine punch to one’s personal style. At RM 199 apiece, the scuba sweaters with embossed Wang logo across the chest are set to be all the rage, alongside leather shirts and breathable tops.

To complement the sporty urban looks by Alexander Wang x H&M, accessories such as backpacks with rain cover, zippered booties crafted from scuba material and square-shaped sunglasses are the definite fashion de rigueur for this season.

The Alexander Wang x H&M collection will be available at H&M stores Lot 10 and Avenue K, starting from as low as RM39.90 for a keychain. Good news for those who are planning to get in line: The first FIVE (5) people who made it to the queue will receive a limited edition Alexander Wang x H&M backpack chair.
