Chanel debuts new No 5 Film - The One That I Want Starring Gisele Bündchen

Ten years ago, CHANEL N ̊5 was an olfactory symbolism; a desired fragrance that represents a woman who wanted to be from her real fantasy – a modern-day epic that was hauntingly captured in the form of a short film starring Nicole Kidman.

A decade has passed and that woman is now reincarnated as a new person. She is a woman who knows exactly what she wants. She understands who she is and emancipated in making her own choices.
For the new CHANEL N ̊5 campaign, the maison once again collaborated with Baz Luhrman to produce a poetic short film that tells a story of a woman who struggles to find space for everything.

The short film sees Brazilian bombshell and supermodel Gisele Bündchen as the leading woman with production design by Oscar winner Catherine Martin.
“The CHANEL woman can be with herself on a beach, can be with her child, can have an aspirational and fulfilling work life, and at the same time she can have a true relationship; she can have romance,” says Luhrmann. “And in the end, the CHANEL woman chooses love.”
Like the N°5 women who have gone before her — Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve, Carole Bouquet and Nicole Kidman — Bündchen is the icon of her time.

Hailing from Horizontina, Brazil, the model has graced various magazine covers, fashion spreads and advertising campaigns, working alongside the best photographers, art directors and film directors such as Lurhmann himself. In a nutshell, she is one of the most dynamic women of the decade.
Furthermore, Luhrmann’s profound passion of music is so evident in his feature films. For the new CHANEL N ̊5 campaign, he chose Lo-Fang’s cover of “You’re the One That I Want” as the background song. With no words or dialogue in the film, the music is not an accompaniment; it is its backbone.
CHANEL N ̊5, the world’s most famous fragrance, was created in 1921 when Coco Chanel asked the great perfumer, Ernest Beaux, to create a fragrance that reflected her vision of modern femininity.

N ̊5 was her lucky number and it was the fifth submission presented to Mademoiselle Chanel, thus a legend was born with the name CHANEL N ̊5.

The film, which has been made available to the public at 12.00p.m. (Malaysian time) today can be viewed here, at the right bar of this blog.
