Fashion Heaven Peeks at ... Altuzarra for Target Collection

The countdown to the official launch of Altuzzara for Target collection has started.

In approximately 10 days, shoppers all over the United States and Canada are set to stomp into the nearest Target stores to secure not just one but most probably the entire collection.

Ever since his debut on the New York Fashion Week runway and the global fashion scene in 2008, Joseph Altuzzara has successfully established himself as one of the go-to fashion designer and fashion label among the Park Avenue glitterati, the global jetsetters and Hollywood style icons.

Born in Paris to a Chinese-American mother and French father, his multicultural upbringing and keen interest in French culture including art, ballet and film are key influences throughout his collections.

A year after graduating from Swarthmore College with a B.A. in Art and Art History, he took a stint as a freelance designer at revered Parisian maison Rochas in Paris before debuting his own label three years later.

A fashion label that was born out of the desire to make sophisticated women feel seductive, strong and confident, Altuzarra has been consistent in establishing and refining its hallmarked style: subversive in nature and fiercely feminine while juxtaposing authentic french sophistication with American pragmatism and ease.

Equipped with confidence and knowledge of desire in fashion, Altazurra has never failed to attain rave reviews and praises from fashion critics around the world.

In 2011, Altuzarra took home Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award and Fashion Group International Rising Star of the Year Award, followed by additional accolades include the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)/Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2011 and the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear Design in 2012. Most recently, Altuzarra received the 2014 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award.

To date, his collections are currently retailed at globally renowned retail establishments around the world from Joyce in Hong Kong to Le Bon Marche and Montaigne Market in Paris, Helga Design in Tel Aviv to Aïshti in Beirut, Magrella in Brasilia to Restir in Tokyo, as well as established online retailers such as Net-a-Porter, SSense and Mytheresa to name a few.

For the Target exclusive collection, the mood is sexy, sensual and sophisticated – ethos that represent his namesake brand. Fashionistas could look forward to a slew of tailored pieces that are modern, feminine and imbued with pure confidence, allowing women to express themselves with ease.

“One of the guiding principles of Altuzarra is that fashion can be transformative, changing not just the way you look, but also the way you feel,” says Altuzarra. “By partnering with Target, we hope to bring that experience to a larger audience of women.”

Boldness is the order du jour, taking form in a chic yet smartly tailored python print blazer and tie-front blouse in similar print.

Green peasant blouse paired with a matching skirt and croc effect belt brings forth the nonchalant bohemian spirit. Exquisite digital prints of white orchids adorn Halston-esque pieces such as sweatshirt, Oxford shirt and maxi dress – a probable homage to the late American designer himself.

Injecting some 70s aura into the Target-exclusive look is a faux fur crop jacket with shaggy texture. On the other hand, velvet blazer and tuxedo doused in Ruby red would bring back the memories of Studio 54 heydays.

To complete the looks, match the ready-to-wear pieces with ankle strap shoes or ankle boots and fringed scarves.

Altuzarra for Target collection will be available at select Target stores, Target online store and Net-A-Porter.com starting September 14, 2014.
