Dior Reopens Flagship Store at Starhill Gallery

Kuala Lumpur’s position as the preferred shopping destination in the Southeast Asia region has been further fortified with the reopening of Christian Dior’s flagship store.

Located in the heart of the swanky Starhill Gallery, Jalan Bukit Bintang, the reopening of the revamped flagship store, in a way, can be summed up as Dior’s gift to its customers in Malaysia for pledging their ceaseless loyalty since the brand first made its presence in Malaysian luxury retail scene more than two decades ago.

Featuring lavish interior design that emulates the design concept of its legendary 30 Avenue Montaigne boutique in Paris by renowned architect Peter Marino, the interior juxtaposes details of the 18th century decoration with modern elements to bring forth a feminine and luxurious aesthetic.

Such combination thus developed a reflection of traditional and contemporary elegance of Dior through a luxurious ambiance that is similar to what one may find in a luxurious apartment.

Being a flagship store, fans can look forward to an extensive array of products such as ready-to-wear collection for women by Raf Simons, handbags, shoes, accessories, costume jewellery and timepiece collection.

As you step into the new store, you will be welcomed by the sight of Dior’s “World of Bags”, with a constellation of “StarLED” lights made with Swarovski Elements studs across the ceiling.

The luxurious marble flooring, on the other hand, is inspired by Dior’s signature “Cannage” quilting pattern – the quintessential element that makes up the design code or DNA of le maison Dior.

For timepiece connoisseurs, the flagship boutique accommodates a dedicated space for Dior timepieces where the luxurious ambiance and the exquisite decor are amalgamated to create a charming environment.

Make your move into the ready-to-wear salon and you will immediately feel like being inside the bona fide private salon of Monsieur Dior himself.

There is a beautiful Swarovski crystal chandelier across the ceiling, art furniture designed by Laurent Chauvat and Vincent Corbiere.

Look forward to a plethora of fall/winter ready-to-wear pieces that are already in store as well as the Collection Privée fragrance collection housed in a dedicated fragrance area.

To celebrate the reopening of the maison’s flagship store in Malaysia, a host of celebrities, fashionistas and VIPs were invited to the opening party at the store itself.

Freshly flown from the neighbouring Indonesia were actor Nicholas Saputra whose body of works include the critically acclaimed film Ada Apa dengan Cinta and Janji Joni, and an up and coming actress and “it” girl Raline Shah. Malaysian celebrities who were spotted at the event were Marion Caunter, Debbie Goh, Fazura and Lynn Lim, just to list a few.

Amidst lush refreshments, guests mingled and perused through the extensive collections of newly arrived fall/winter collections.

Guests were dressed to their nines at the party with majority of them were spotting Dior creations.

One of the guests was seen wearing John Galliano for Dior’s famous nude and lace dress while many of them were carrying the iconic Lady Dior handbags in various permutations, be it the leathers or colours.

At 9pm, guests then made their way to the Marble 8 at The Binjai KLCC where the party continued. A million thanks to Christian Dior for inviting me to witness one of the most highly anticipated fashion events of the year.
