Boasting a modernist setting, the long and pillared runway was decorated with geometrically patterned carpet in contrasting shades of blue.
Perspex tables were arranged around the roman columns, providing a futuristic feel to the entire setting. Guests then settled on comfortable modernist chairs in hue that matched the colour scheme of runway.
“Slumdog Millionaire” actress and model Freida Pinto, on the other hand was dressed in navy silk sable crewneck belted blouson dress that is luxuriously drenched in silver grommets and metal embroideries. On her feet were a pair of exquisite pumps covered in black sequins and she clutched a black satin strappy sandals, all by Miu Miu.
Actress Lea Seydoux, the former face of Miu Miu Resort 2013 ad campaign joined the chic crowd in a cream, silver and gold irridescent brocade zipper tunic and pants. The look was further amplified with a pair of silver platform crystal heels and a cream satin clutch, all by Miu Miu.
Ladies aside, the Cruise show was also graced by the presence of award-winning film director Steve McQueen and daughter Alex, film director Roman Polanski and fashion designer Marc Jacobs who came to show in rust-coloured sheen skirt paired with a brown body-hugging sweater.
Dressed in green hibiscus printed popeline mandarin-style dress with navy raso paillette embroidered pumps, all by Miu Miu, the British singer with Liberian and Jamaican roots delivered a soulful rendition of her songs prior to the start of the runway show.
For Cruise 2014-15, Miu Miu rides on the wave of the late 60s, when the psychedelic era kicked started. Perhaps, Prada was looking into the iconic styles of women who defined the fashion of the two eras such as former US First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, British singer Jane Birkin (the one with an “it” bag named after her for the uninitiated) and model Jean Shrimpton, just to name a few.
There are also long-sleeved dresses that are most probably appropriate to be worn during the pre-fall or fall/winter season rather than Cruise as the style resembles a double breasted coat.
Speaking about dresses, the hemlines are kept high above the knees and they come in either printed or plain with application of macramé appliqué on the bodice to complement the groovy print. Adding finishing touches to the Miu Miu Cruise looks are leather gladiator sandals, bejewelled strapped sandals, pointed toed Mary Janes and printed clutch bags.
The glamorous yet intimate evening continued with a dinner and ended with a spectacular performance by internationally acclaimed US artist Jack White.
