While retreating to the exotic islands uncharted by any maps across the Pacific Ocean may sound so cliché, why don’t you fly to the Southern Hemisphere and bask in its winter?
For starters, New Zealand’s snow-capped Southern Alps Mountains would be a great place for you to ski down the slopes. At night, slip into that designer après-ski garb and hit the bar.
If skiing is not your cup of tea, then fly to the Brazilian city of São Paulo instead and experience the constant drizzle and the unpredictable winter weather.
However, if long-distance travelling is not your cup of tea, our vast virgin forests dating back to the pre-historic period always provide respite and great physical challenge for you to heed.
With all that constant travelling rendered your luggage into exhausted state, perhaps it’s time to replace those worn-out travelling accoutrements with a new set. With that being said, you should look no further to the monogram collection by Saint Laurent.
Back in the 70s, Yves Saint Laurent created a monogram-imbued collection featuring the iconic YSL logo that was designed by French artist Cassandre back in 1961.
Moving forward to 2013, Hedi Slimane, the new Creative Director of Saint Laurent designed the collection in Los Angeles, his current base, and is now one of the maison’s classic lines.
For Hedi Slimane’s take on the monogram, the Saint Laurent canvas features a transposition of the original Yves Saint Laurent logo. The print boasts repetitive chain of the logo formed by lines and dots, comprising in three colours – black, dark brown and light brown – that enhance the unique balance between relief and shading.
Manufactured entirely in Italy, the accoutrements are crafted using canvas that is made from natural cotton base, coated to purvey sheen surface as well as strength that is required for leather goods.
The traditional work leaves the cotton weaves visible – a visible evidence of the exceptional quality of these products.
Inside, the interior lining is made of Saint Laurent grosgrain, which adds lightness to the line. Each and every piece of the accoutrement within the monogram collection features Saint Laurent signature embossed in gold lettering.
Made for men and women, there are thirty items within this collection, ranging from traditional luggage to travel essentials; classic men’s essential such as briefcases, totes, cases and bags of all sizes; and small leather goods.
The Saint Laurent monogram collection is available now at all Saint Laurent stores as well as at YSL.com.
