Marina Bay Sands Welcome Etro Flagship Store

Before Kuala Lumpur took the 4th spot as the best shopping destination in the world and the 2nd in Asia, Singapore has been the go-to shopping paradise for Malaysians. 

Its close proximity from the capital (4 hours by land; 55 minutes by air), the favourable exchange rate back then and cornucopia of brands are the major reasons why Malaysians would visit the city in droves, especially during the bi-annual Great Singapore Sale season.

Apart from the storied Orchard Road that houses a coterie of to-die-for fashion labels such as Louis Vuitton (there are two Louis Vuitton stores in the row), Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo, as well as several renowned local fashion institutions such as Tangs and Robinsons, another shopping hotspot for the well-heeled in Singapore is Marina Bay Sands. 

While Sands is famous for its chain of casinos in Las Vegas and Macau, the iconic Marina Bay Sands is also home to the one and only Louis Vuitton Island in the world and a series of flagship stores.

Recently, Marina Bay Sands welcomed its latest tenant – a flagship store by Italian fashion label Etro. A fashion label that is synonymous with the storied paisley print, the opening of Etro flagship store in Singapore truly befits its strong presence of more than 20 years in the Lion City.

Offering full range of ready-to-wear for men and women; accessories and fragrances, the new flagship store – also the fourth Etro store in Southeast Asia – possesses an interior that represents the latest generation of Etro boutiques.

New decorative features omnipresent in new Etro boutiques worldwide such as grey lacquered panelling on the walls, plated glass and steel bars on the display units are fitted into the store.

Being a flagship store, the Marina Bay Sands store is also equipped with a VIP room where important clients can shop in peace of mind. Moreover, the new boutique also represents “made in Italy” values where style, craftsmanship, high quality materials, and natural fibres are embellished with original designs and innovative colours to create the brand ideals.

To celebrate the opening of the flagship store, 200 guests were invited to the event to welcome the advent of the store. 

Guests ranging from Singapore celebrities Zoe Tay and Yvonne Lim to Malaysian heartthrob Henry Golding as well as beautiful and stylish people that makes up the impeccably stylish style mosaic of Singapore. 

Most guests showed up at the event in Etro pieces and iconic paisley prints.   

The store was officiated by guests of honour Ms Rebecca Halim Kesuma, owner of Graha Lifestyle, Dr Gianlucca Rubagotti, Deputy Head of Mission from the Embassy of Italy in Singapore, Singaporean actress Zoe Tay, Mr Gianfranco Piedigrotta, Director of Retail, Franchise and Travel for Etro, and Ms Lindsay Nicholas, the Executive Director of Retail Marketing for Marina Bay Sands. 

In between canapés and champagne, guests were treated to the spring/summer 2014 collection preview as well live music spun by the DJ. To commemorate the opening, Etro has produced a limited edition bag in four fun colour combinations. 

The bags are crafted in the iconic paisley jacquard fabric coated with a special resin and come with leather handles and a matching tag inscribed “Etro Milano for MBS”. Available exclusively to the Marina Bay Sands flagship store, the bag retails at SG$1,899.00.
