Alexander Wang Collaborates with H&M

Fashionistas everywhere let out a wave of fanatical scream when Swedish high street fashion retailer H&M announced its new designer collaboration with Alexander Wang.

The news was broken by H&M during an exclusive event at the renowned Coachella Music Festival in Palm Springs, California.

Partying with a throng of party goers at the event were Hollywood starlet Kate Bosworth and singer Katy Perry; model Eliza Gonzales; and DJ Major Lazer and Iggy Azalea threw a special live performance swathed under the cast of bright neon lights.

Kate Bosworth looked bohemian in an all-white ensemble with a fringed handbag while Katy Perry sported highlighted cropped tresses with black varsity football jersey mesh top and a matching mini skirt. On the other hand, Iggy Azalea was dressed in an eye catching two-piece while getting the invited guests in feet-stomping mood.

The New York-based fashion designer who is also the current creative director of Balenciaga is known for perpetually evolving and re-contextualising the urban uniform through reflection of contrasts; blending seamlessly between refinement and imperfection, hence reflecting a sense of ease.

His ready-to-wear collections for French maison Balenciaga too have been tremendously received by fashion editors and buyers, season after season.

Being the first ever American designer to collaborate with H&M, the Alexander Wang x H&M collection will feature apparels and accessories designed for both men and women.

The collection will see a new yet irreverent approach – a new take on lifestyle through a spectrum of product offerings that go beyond fashion.

“I am honoured to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with their team is an exciting, fun process,” says Wang on the exciting partnership. “They are very open to push boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”

As for Margareta van der Bosch, H&M’s creative advisor, Alexander Wang is the epitome of contemporary fashion with his voice being well resonated in the industry through his innovative and distinctive approaches.

“He understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that’s infectious. It feels incredible to be collaborating with him this year,” she adds.

The full Alexander Wang x H&M collection will be unveiled at 250 H&M stores worldwide and online starting November 6, 2014.
