Glammed Up Night at H&M Avenue K VIP Party

It is a well-known fact that Malaysian fashionistas have seriously fallen in love with Swedish high fashion retailer Hennes & Mauritz, or popularly known as H&M.

Within the span of a year, H&M has tremendously grown in Malaysia with stores in Klang Valley as well in Penang.

On the eve of Halloween, H&M has invited the glittery set of Kuala Lumpur’s who’s who within the city’s style and social circuits and die-hard fashionistas to an exclusive sneak peek party its latest flagship store at the Avenue K.

Known to be the second largest store in Asia, as early as seven in the evening, guests have made their way into the stores, waltzing from rack to rack, feasting their eyes on the latest offerings of the season.

There was no fashion show taking place that night, hence allowing guests to mingle and shop freely from floor to floor.

Many celebrities and fresh faces were seen gracing the event, such as the former Miss Malaysia Universe 2004 Andrea Fonseka; style icon and society maven Magie Abang Saufi in her trademark turban and rounded jadeite sunglasses; actress Nur Fazura; singer Atilia and former Channel [V] VJ cum radio deejay Joey G.

Malaysian supermodel Tengku Azura looked stunning in a richly embellished above-the-knee-length dress paired with sexy high heeled sandals while I effortlessly pull H&M’s autumn/winter 2013 camouflage printed shirt in deep maroon with my Marc by Marc Jacobs skinny jeans in similar colour.

The air of “fabulosity” and “glamour” interspersed within the contemporary atmosphere of the store throughout the night.

Helping themselves to the artistically prepared canapés and finger foods such as my favourite beef cutlets soaked in sweet potato puree, mini burgers and shrimps with small mango balls and a dash of caviar as well as luxurious bubblies served in flutes, guests immediately take the golden opportunity to unleash the inner “Rebecca Bloomwood” or “Carrie Bradshaw” in them by snapping freshly arrived pieces from the racks.

All thanks to the special, one-night-only 20-per cent discount given on all normal priced items. In between, live music kept the guests entertained and in high spirit throughout the evening.

Speaking of this season’s collection, H&M Autumn/Winter features the season’s essential pieces in a tough but feminine look straight from the streets of utilitarian coats and blazers worn with blouses, sweatshirts and pants.

Colours such as black and grey dominate the collection, alongside speckles of red, blue, white, and petroleum green, just to list a few.

For men, pieces such as herringbone coat, cropped jacket, camel blazer, pin-striped suit, utility jacket and biker jacket are the season’s must-have.

At the same time, a special collection, Mauritz Archive, looks to the little-known outdoors heritage of H&M to create a new urban look for men.

The collection is inspired by the archives of old Swedish outdoors store Mauritz Widfors, the “M” in H&M. The capsule range is full of pieces perfect for men in the city today, such as multi-pocket wool blazers, waxed cotton utility jackets, quilted shell linings, cardigan jackets and patched 5-pocket jeans.

Million thanks to H&M and Milk PR team for hosting such a fabulous and wonderful fashion event of the season. H&M Avenue K is now open for business from 10.00a.m. to 10.00p.m.
