Tom Ford Comes to Singapore and Jakarta

Tom Ford is the true epitome of class. Ever since his departure from the Gucci Group where both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent were under his helm, his star has shone brighter in the fashion realm.

His meticulously tailored bespoke suits are often seen draping the beautiful bodies of world’s influential men (Justin Timberlake was dressed by Ford for his 20/20 Experience album shoot) while his usually sexy and ultra-seductive take on womenswear has acquired multiple pledges from trendsetting celebrities in Hollywood – which led to his top secret spring/summer 2011 runway show in New York, where the collection was modelled by BeyoncĂ© Knowles, Liya Kebede, Daphne Guinness and Lauren Hutton – just to name a few – not long ago.

While true-blue fans of Tom Ford are more than willing to travel halfway around the world to snap his highly coveted creations, Southeast Asian fans will be thrilled to know that Mr Ford is making his brand presence clear in this part of the world. Yes, look forward to the first ever Tom Ford store in Southeast Asia in the first quarter of 2014.

Located at the Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore boutique is modelled after the brand’s Madison Avenue flagship store in New York and features palette that is signature to brand. Think greys and deep browns with chrome and glass accents.

Complete range of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, eyewear, fragrance, beauty and fine jewellery aside, the Singapore store will introduce the Private Blend Atelier D’Orient collection— a new quartet of TOM FORD fragrances inspired by the sublime beauty and exquisite luxury of Asia.

This prestigious fragrance offering is Tom Ford’s newest innovation from his Private Blend Collection of artisanal scents. A flagship store will follow suit at Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta by the second half of 2015.

For fall/winter, Tom Ford presents a collection of womenswear that is imbued with cross-cultural, multi-ethnic influences by juxtaposing tribal patterns, Eastern silks, American Pop Art motifs and African trims. These beautiful juxtaposition results a sumptuous and electrifying collection that allows fashionista to express their style in a modern way.

"It's all about mixing and matching. Any woman can mix the pieces into her wardrobe to create her individual look,” says Tom Ford on the womenswear collection.

Daywears are made of daring leather and embroidered silk skirts with curve slit fronts, multi-coloured sequined hoodies and mink and Persian lamb bomber jackets, fringed Napa leather ponchos, trench jackets and racer back knitwear.

Suits featuring brightly-coloured geometric pony print appear alongside all-black scuba-material suits with velvet trim while pieces such as intricate black lace tops, skirts and pants with patchwork cutaways and opulent coats in embroidered cobalt-blue silk with crimson mink collars or black-and-white coats of sensuous Tibetan goat or mink-and-Persian lamb lend the air of seduction into the daytime collection.

In the evening, indulge in exquisite pieces such as suede column skirts embellished with multi-coloured Pop Art embroidery and lavished with embroidered black-and-white zebra patterns.

Amp up the red carpet experience with jersey column dresses with cape backs that are both fluid and sexy. These dresses are also embroidered with starbursts radiating from the hip.

Also, finely crafted tulle gowns featuring Native American embroidery from head to toe are the must-have fashion investment for this season.

Do not forget to amp up your looks with dynamic and energetic accessories such as the bold, cone heel design on ankle wrap sandals, ultra-high boots, and beaded ring clutch bags emblazoned with zig-zag patterns.

In the menswear department, Tom Ford envisions a new reinterpretation of masculine style, which is more luxurious through new versions of his signature O’Connor suit - a slim, single-breasted suit that modernizes the sharp look of classic 1950’s design.

Iconic suiting textiles such as Prince of Wales check, window pane gingham and bi-colour tweeds lend contemporary yet refined feel to the fall/winter looks when worn over fine cashmere turtleneck, slim cut shirts, and waistcoats.

Bringing back the coolness of retro style are handmade cashmere and merino sweaters, sumptuously paired with tailored flannel trousers or slim-cut O’Connor trousers cuffed at the ankle.

If the autumn air seems too chilly for you to venture outside, put on the silk mohair cable sweaters and top it up with a fur-trimmed tartan parkas, shearing aviator jackets, suede shearing trench coats or fox fur coats to keep you warm and sophisticated at the same time. There’s also the fox fur boots to keep your feet warm.

In the evening, impress your guests with O’Connor cocktail jacket in teal and ochre floral silk jacquards or in teal and black velvet with evening trousers. Or if you’re looking forward to make an outstanding fashion statement, then the dramatic black beaver coat is what you will need.

Don’t forget to accentuate your looks with precious accessories such as white gold, diamond and onyx cufflinks and studs; handmade calfskin loafers and moccasins for day; shiny alligator dress shoes and patent leather evening shoes after sunset.
