Rimmel London Turns 180 With a Bang!

When the Brits came to Malaya, perhaps there was one thing that they forgot to bring – Rimmel London cosmetics.

Founded in 1834, Rimmel is an iconic British brand that has traversed the globe, thanks to its array of beauty products coupled with cutting edge advertising approach, featuring global style and beauty icons such as Kate Moss, Zooey Deschanel, Georgia May Jagger and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, just to list a few.

Recently, London’s glittery fashion elite converged at the London Film Museum in Covent Garden to celebrate the 180th anniversary of Rimmel London as the inventor of London’s hip looks since 1834.

Making their grand entrance into the fun-filled evening were the current global ambassadors of Rimmel London – Kate Moss, Georgia May Jagger and singer Rita Ora – all arrived in Rimmel-branded black cabs.

Combining the past, the present and the future of the brand’s cutting-edge styles, the celebration features an amalgamation of fashion, make-up, video and music with a stunning fashion show involving 18 models representing 18 iconic looks from 1834 to 2014, including Brit beauty Georgia May Jagger who showcased the glam ‘70s Studio 54 style.

To perfectly capture the eye-catching essence of each era, all of the make-up looks were created by Rimmel’s international make-up artist, Kirstin Piggott. Once the final model took her place on stage, the line-up formed a chronological living timeline of Rimmel’s and London’s rich history of beauty and fashion.

Guests were treated to another surprise – a live performance by Rita Ora, who also took the stage as the eighteenth model for the evening.

Showcasing the present London look, Rita, dressed in tartan suit, went on to thrill party-goers by belting out her hit singles such as ‘Shine ya light’, ‘Hey Ya’; and ‘RIP’ followed by DJ Fat Tony - a close friend of Kate Moss - on the decks to keep the party pumping.

Recently announced as the new ambassador of Rimmel London, the British singer known for her signature platinum blonde curls and red lips is set to collaborate with the brand for an exclusive capsule colour collection that will debut in March 2014.

A gist on Rita’s collection for Rimmel London: Look forward to a collection of sublime palette inspired by London’s happening music and fashion scene. In a nutshell, it is a cool juxtaposition of London street vibe with her eclectic glam style.

Furthermore, her forthcoming special-edition make-up shades will be the perfect way for Rimmel to celebrate its 180th anniversary with the world.
