Always Your Girl Next Door ... Chloé Resort 2013 Collection

Chloé’s DNA is tough indeed. No matter how the Creative Directors interprets or tweaks it, you still can see Chloé as what she is — an ‘it’ girl who perpetually remains a girl. 

Furthermore, it’s been ages since I last reviewed Chloé collection that to my surprise, Hannah MacGibbons is no longer helming the Creative Direction seat of this ever-girly maison. Mon Dieu! 

Now under the direction of Clare Waight Keller, I didn’t see tremendous changes taking place in the upcoming Resort 2013 collection. 

The working palette has, very much, remained the same — similar to what her predecessors have used — ditto on the silhouettes. 

Well, I did see a slight application of volume on the Resort collection, such as the exaggerated but soft shoulders and rippling billowy sleeves, mimicking the glorious blossoms of the morning glory.

Doused in pastels with speckles of white, black, blue and traditional prints, the Resort Collection offers Chloé fans pieces that aren’t just laidback but also functional. 

Astounding pieces such as straight legged trousers with crisp gathers, Bohemian off-shoulder dress with long shoulders and knee-length hem, wraparound top with undulating elbow-length bell sleeves and asymmetrical long skirt with front slit evoke the spirit of Chloé’s demure girl next door.

Apart from that, Waight Keller also adds a dash of sensuality into this collection by baring some of women’s renowned erogenous zones such as the back and the décolletage. 

Case in point: White bareback dress with below the knee hem and criss-cross scalloped (wasn't that MacGibbons' style?) straps and a white gathered dress with plunging V neckline that alludes to the sexiness of the 70s. Also not to forget, the eyelet-filled tie around long skirt.

Chloé Resort 2013 collection will be available at all Chloé boutiques and selected mixed brand boutiques and department stores worldwide as early as December 2012.
