Irasshaimase Uniqlo

Alas, we’re not going to get the taste of H&M as someone told me that the Swedish high-street fashion retailer has decided to postpone its arrival to our fair shores until God knows when. But I have great news for Uniqlo fans. The Japanese high-street fashion purveyor will be making its presence clear in Malaysia anytime soon.

Located at the Fahrenheit 88 – the new shopping mall that was once known as KL Plaza in the heart of Jalan Bukit Bintang shopping belt – the Uniqlo store in Kuala Lumpur will be carrying a wide array of goodies, similar to what is offered at other Uniqlo stores around the world. That said, Uniqlo fans in Malaysia will no longer have to endure four-hour drive or 55-minute flight to the Lion City just to stock on the latest Uniqlo goods.

What’s more, Uniqlo is brought to Malaysia by DNP Clothing, the same company that brought top high street fashion labels from the UK namely Topshop, Topman, Karen Millen and Miss Selfridge, just to name a few, to our beautiful, sunny shores.

Speaking of the Singapore, the brand just turned one recently. Surprisingly, Singapore fashionistas are so in love with Uniqlo that three stores – including its largest store in Southeast Asia at 313@Somerset – have been opened to satisfy Singapore fashionistas’ craving for everything Uniqlo.

"We are delighted that our brand has been very well received and had so much support from the Singapore people," said Mr Satoshi Onoguchi, Co-Managing Director for UNIQLO Singapore. “We hope that we can continuously meet our customers’ expectation and strive to exceed them by providing quality clothes and service at an affordable price.”

All right, while we wait f
or the KL store’s soft launch, let’s check out some of the looks that I’ve just culled from Uniqlo’s fall 2010 stylebook.
