A Holiday that Lasts Forever ... Emilio Pucci Resort 2014 Collection

Parting Emilio Pucci and resort is totally a big fashion mistake. Since the days of late Jacqueline Kennedy roaming the snowy grounds of the Italian Alps and up till today, the brand’s hallmarked prints that douse those silky sheer caftans and swimsuits are often the preferred choice of every fashionistas.

Furthermore, add in our hot and humid “resort” climate all year round, wearing an Emilio Pucci piece, either to work or any social function, is more than enough to invoke that luxurious holiday feel somewhere in Capri, without the need of having to be there physically.

For the upcoming Resort 2014 collection, Creative Director Peter Dundas looks up to the surfer girl as inspiration or muse – contrary to what I had expected earlier: Miss Rita Ora, whose tour wardrobe was designed by Dundas. The collection, to sum it up in my way, is rather simple and straight forward. Shades of blue dominate the collection, followed by speckles of purple, pink and yellow.

The prints somehow seem like a crossbreed between the clover-styled windows of the antiquated Milan Duomo and paisleys. These prints are then matched with pieces in plain colours such as a turquoise jacket matched with striped top, or even worn on top another. Case in point: Printed brassiere top with Bohemian-esque belted long skirt.

There’s also a zing of tribal touch – think fringed symmetrical layered skirt with intricate beadings – and heavily beaded neckpiece attached to the neck of a dress. Adding cool touches to some of the looks are the coveted accessories such as tribal-inspired bags embellished with beads and tassels, as well as leather trimmed belts.

Emilio Pucci’s Resort 2014 collection will be available at all Emilio Pucci stores and selected mixed brand stores and department stores as early as November onwards.
