A Dreamy Walkthrough ... Roger Vivier FW2019-20 Collection

What does a daydream and a getaway has in common? They are escapades. 

While getaways are real-time escapades, daydreams, au contraire, are escapades from reality. It is the time when we would leave our woes behind and let our immense imagination control our mind.

Perhaps inspired by the beauty and the power of imagination, Gherardo Felloni, Creative Director of Roger Vivier, recently took fashion editors and guests through a whimsical journey of lavish desires and fantasies at Roger Vivier’s fall/winter 2019-20 shoes and accessories collection presentation.

Aptly called “Daydream Vivier” collection, the trailblazing collection was presented in a chic Parisian hotel where six rooms decorated with distinctive themes – a haunted forest, a hall of mirrors, a room full of unicorns, Madame Freud’s chamber, a cinema room showing iconic French flick “Belle du Hour: starring France’s revered silver screen siren Catherine Deneuve, and a mysterious jungle - were opened to the editors and guests. 

Depending on individual’s perception, these rooms can be a beautiful dream or either way, a nightmare to remember.

 

“Dreams are a metaphor for reality,” says Felloni. “For the launch of the Fall/Winter 19-20 collection, my inspiration comes from what I think women imagine when they dream.”

For fall/winter 2019, the treasured archives of Roger Vivier plays an important role in providing Felloni with the collection inspiration.

Nevertheless, instead of resurrecting the looks per se, he -gave them a lease of new life with his own brand of aesthetics. 

Take the Polichinelle, for instance. What used to be an iconic Vivier creation circa 1960s is now reincarnated as the Courbette – a chunky, bi-coloured heels with curved interior and opulent bow embellishment.

Furthermore, Felloni also downplayed the classic masculine styles with the use of soft materials such as satin and velvet, as seen on Viv Tex boots. 

Keeping Vivier’s well-documented heritage alive is the liberal application of the maison’s signature buckle – a prominent feature on its chic souliers (shoes) that not only keeps the collection true to the maison’s code of design, but also provides an unmistakable feminine touch.

Shoes aside, another worthy accessory to invest for the upcoming fall/winter is the Beau Vivier bag. The structured bag is the result of unparalleled crafting techniques of the highly skilled Italian artisans and is adorned with the iconic Vivier buckle. 

With top handle and a removable leather strap, the new Beau Vivier bag comes in a plethora of colours such as magenta, cognac, navy blue and black and is set to become the icon of Vivier’s new generation.

Roger Vivier Fall/Winter 2019-20 shoes and accessories collection will be available at all Roger Vivier stores and selected multi-label stores worldwide beginning the third quarter of the year.
