Prada Presents "The Postman Gifts"
Prada's esteemed position as the patron of arts needs no introduction. Working with acclaimed as well as up and coming auteurs, the collaboration translates into a series of exciting body of works that combines fashion, fantasy and technology.
Following the success of the first series of “The Postman Dreams” which debuted in 2015, Prada and acclaimed American filmmaker Autumn de Wilde are replicating the success with the debut of its sequel, “The Postman Dreams 2”.
Starring the iconic Prada Galleria bag, “The Postman Dreams 2” revolves around desire, pleasure, eventual satisfaction, and deepest wishes – not just of the auteur (de Wilde) but also of others.
These
elements are then interwoven with de Wilde’s own imaginary vistas, mise en
scène, and West Coast Americana mood brimming in rich, saturated colours,
resulting fantasy-inducing short films that pull viewers into a meticulously crafted
world.
As its name suggests, the story runs around
an enigmatic postman, played by actor Elijah Wood who was assigned to deliver
Prada Galleria bag to its new lucky owners.
In the first two instalments, the
two lucky owners were Hollywood actresses Emma Roberts and artiste/actress
Sasha Frolova.
Humorous and whimsical, with a touch of daydream and moments of
pure surreal wit, each film presents itself as a self-contained fragment, like
acts in a play hinting at a larger narrative, but nevertheless their own
entity.
Moreover, the films are stories that come without beginning, middle or
end.
