Nicki Minaj Stars in H&M Holiday 2017 Campaign Film

When was the last time you see Nicki Minaj on the silver screen?

Me? Oh, it was eons ago, when she had her first kick in that feminist-with-a-comedic-twist-sort-of film, The Other Woman.

The film also stars Cameron Diaz, supermodel Kate Upton and Leslie Mann. Now, if you were one of Nicki Minaj “Barbies” ― Minaj’s endearing term for her fans ― the Pink Friday rapper and songwriter is going to make your Christmas a merrier affair with her breakthrough role in H&M’s 2017 Holiday campaign film. Slated to debut on 28 November, the campaign film is directed by John Renck and also starred by actors Jesse Williams and John Turturro.

Twisting classic fairy tale with modern take, the film centres on a heroic little girl who tracks down the evil brother of Santa Claus. Her mission is to save the holiday season for his selfishness.

Now, while Minaj is known for her sex kitten image, be it on stage or in the press, in this film, Minaj will unveil her maternal side that we had never seen, playing dual characters of a mother of two children and a fabulous fairy named the Wisest Thingy.

“I love the film’s over-all empowering message,” she comments. “I love seeing the young girl become the champion that lives in us all. There’s always magic in the air during the Holidays.”

Both Jesse Williams and John Turturro too will be playing dual characters as well – Williams as the father to the children, Minaj’s on-screen husband and the Fastest Fairy, while John Turturro as both Santa Claus and his evil brother.

Echoing her enthusiasm is Pernilla Wohlfahrt, the Head of Design and Creative Director of H&M.

“It’s exciting to see our festive designs come to life, together with such inspirational talents,” she enthused. “They definitely added some extra magic to the film and we hope that our customers will love how the fashion is presented throughout the holiday season at H&M.”

For Christmas, a galore of fashionable goodies for men, women, children and home is available for you to discover and enjoy. A selection of ready-to-wear pieces will be featured in the film when it breaks through various media platforms soon.
