Mango Goes Sustainably Chic with Committed FW2017

Spanish high street fashion retailer Mango is taking ecological chic to a greater height with the launch of its capsule collection of sustainable fashion.

Already in its second year, the Mango Committed Fall/Winter 2017 collection is part of the brand’s initiatives in creating a business model based on sustainability criteria and more environmentally-friendly processes.

“The future of fashion starts here,” says Daniel López, the Vice-Chairman of Mango. “The views of consumers and sustainability awareness have evolved exponentially in recent years, in the same way that fashion has. MANGO is committed to making its business model more sustainable.”

Inspired by vintage military, the collection comprises pieces that are manufactured from sustainable fibres such as recycled wool, modal and lyocell, alongside organic and recycled cotton.

Oversized masculine fit provides stark contrast and a pinch of toughness to the feminine silhouettes. The predominant tones of green combined with tile, grey and ochre and the application of detailing such as plastron pockets and aged copper rivets are seen on key pieces such as tile power suit and maxi puffer jacket.

For men, key garments such as corduroy suit, workwear-style dungarees and the overcoat are peppered with utility details and tinted in neutral tones such as navy, army green, ecru and tobacco. Like its counterpart the womenswear, the menswear collection also features hints of tile.

Heralding the capsule collection launch is a supporting advertisement campaign shot by renowned photographer Josh Olins.

The London-born, New York-based photographer whose dazzling body of works include advertising campaigns by Balenciaga, Acqua di Parma, Calvin Klein Jeans, Giorgio Armani and Burberry to list a few, shot the campaign images in Iceland in October.

Known for its arresting yet ethereal landscape, Olins captured the essence of the Mango Committed collection against the striking landscapes such as the Haukadalur geyser or the Gullfoss waterfall, where nature can be seen in its purest form. The campaign stars the models Liya Kebede and Clement Chabernaud, with styling by Aleksandra Woroniecka.

Mango Committed fall/winter 2017 collection is available now at all Mango stores and Mango online stores worldwide.
