Pink sand dunes and motocross motors buzzing on the runway – only a real and unconventional daredevil like Rihanna would do it.

A hint to what’s coming forth at her New York Fashion Week show, Rihanna staged her successful follow-up to her collaboration with sportswear house Puma. For the upcoming spring/summer FENTY PUMA by RIHANNA collection, the Barbadian singer and style mogul (dearly known to the media as RiRi) intertwined extreme sport of motocross and the beach chic, creating a fusion of luxury with an air of sportiness and laidback.

“This collection is a mix between two worlds: motocross and surf. It was a challenge to bring them together but it ended up being the perfect combination,” beams Rihanna.

On the runway, models with outstandingly unique features strutted on the runway in front of the likes of Diplo, Cardi B, Dave East and Ryan Destiny.

They were made up by a team of makeup professionals using makeup from Rihanna’s recently launched Fenty Beauty collection. Gender fluid silhouettes are paired with oversized shapes while sexy-body con styles predominates the selection.

The classic Track Suit, for instance, is updated with surf-inspired twist. Think neon-hued bungee cords and super lightweight coated rubber. On the other hand, the lacing leggings are refashioned with bungee cords and cut outs in popping colours ranging from Cherry Tomato, Bae and Evening Blue. Fenty Puma’s bestsellers such as the crew neck long sleeved tees, short sleeved tees and oversized hoodies are adorned with funky triptych of Rihanna images that are never seen by the public before as well as distorted checkerboard overlays.

For the first time and perhaps, apt for the season, Fenty Puma introduces its first selection of swimwear. Versatile as both swimming outfit, pool party getup and streetwear, the hugging mono-kinis and body confident bikinis are chicly paired with terry toweling hoodies, oversized graphic sweatshirts, and basketball and booty shorts.

Surf elements such as wet-look gel prints, wetsuit pullers, rubber patch detailing and neon hits provides a throwback to the surf and extreme watersport culture.

Always surprising and unexpected, the collection introduces Swimwear for the first time with curve- hugging mono-kinis and body confident bikinis, perfect for streetwear and pool parties. Swimwear pieces pair nicely with summer apparel must-haves like Terry Toweling Hoodies, Oversized Graphic Sweatshirts, Basketball and Booty Shorts. The neon hits, wet-looked gel prints, wetsuit pullers and rubber patch details throughout the collection are a nod to throwback surf and extreme watersport culture.

As Puma is known for its profound association with the motorsport arena, classic performance racing gears have been given runway treatments with the application of technical materials namely lightweight leathers, nylon and air-tech mesh.

The technical race suits and driving pants are rendered with checker flag graphics, sporty decals and motorsport gears. For footwear, Rihanna gave her collection bestseller The Creeper a makeover with neoprene materials, gravity-defying translucent tracked soles and bungee cord laces. A split Puma cat is featured on the heels serves as a main motif on sexy thong heeled sandals, ankle strap heels and bungee cord lace-up shoes.

To complement the surf meets motocross looks, look forward to an exciting array of accessories such as an exaggerated carry all, metallic puffy barrel bag, surfer ankle straps and chokers splashed with FENTY x PUMA branding.

Moreover, summer style essentials such as summer visors, baseball caps with branded nylon webbing and rubber coated clips are decorated with die cut logo headwear and buckets. The FENTY PUMA by Rihanna spring/summer 2018 collection is slated to reach Puma stores, lifestyle and fashion retailers worldwide in March 2018.
