Rimowa Celebrates Six Malaysian Jet-Setters Sojourns

Travelling opens our mind. It enables us to look into life and things from a whole new perspective. 

At the same time, to quote Malaysia Airlines’ tagline, “Journeys are made by the people you travel with”.

However, the fun part of travelling, to be honest, is more than just about where you are heading and with whom you are travelling. It is also about what you are taking along with you. In this case, that would and most likely be the luggage.

Optimised and replete with elegance, Rimowa luggage collection has been an icon on its own right since 1937, thanks to its instantly recognisable grooves on its travelling accoutrements. 

Furthermore, in the recent years, Rimowa too has been purveying avid travellers with a series of luggage that are not only lightweight but also timeless whilst meeting their constantly changing needs and demands.

Recently, Rimowa celebrated the sojourns of six personalities who are also frequent travellers through a beautiful showcase held at the centre court of Pavilion KL.

Chronicling the journeys of Public Relations guru Wei Hsiang, designer Celest Thoi, Royal Selangor’s Yong Yoon Li, Westsar Group of Companies Muhaini Mahmud, Big Group’s Benjamin Yong and wife, Bowerhaus proprietor Elizabeth Lee, the campaign showcases each individual needs and demands through their favourite pieces from the brand’s range. 

Video presentation for each individual aside, the travellers were also given a space for them to display their creativity using their favourite Rimowa luggage.

“We first brought RIMOWA into Malaysia 6 years ago, and through time RIMOWA has grown tremendously, as a brand and as a business entity, culminating to a centre court event like tonight,” says Charles Yong, General Manager of RIMOWA Far East Limited. “Today, RIMOWA counts many actors, celebrities, athletes and business travellers as avid fans of its sleek design and functionality, and its unmistakable grooves."

Yong further added: "And it is no different in Kuala Lumpur, as we celebrate the sojourns of 6 jet-setters from Malaysia tonight, who are the embodiment of the fervent RIMOWA traveller.”

A series of RIMOWA suitcases, each portraying the 7 animals, was unveiled during the evening. From the ferocious tiger, resilient elephant, sleek albino and Burmese python, to the inquisitive raccoon, aggressive rhinoceros beetle and alligator snapping turtle, every distinctive characteristic of each animal was carefully captured to a high level of detail to complement the stunning photography on display.

During the cocktail reception, guests were welcomed to peruse, experience and acquire their favourite pieces from various Rimowa collections. 

A stunning runway show was also held during the event, where new season colours from the Salsa, Salsa Air, Salsa Deluxe and Limbo collections, as well as the launch of the Topas Sports luggage were presented.
