Prada Takes Pradasphere to Hong Kong
30 years in the fashion world is almost - or perhaps - equivalent to 100 years in reality.
While fashion labels and designers may come and go, rest assured no one would ever thought that a Ph.D in Political Science holder and a trained mime artist by the name of Miuccia Prada would somehow survive the ever competitive industry, gloriously soaring as a revered fashion and art visionary of our generation.
After three decades of critically-acclaimed and lauded fashion collections and a host of collaborations with the bigwigs of artistic world later, the celebrated fashion designer and iconoclastic style visionary is opening the doors to her inevitably creative mind with a sublime retrospective called Pradasphere.
An absolutely unique showcase brimming with style, colours and visions that make the crux of the brand's DNA, Hong Kong's Central Ferry Pier 4 has been chosen as its venue in the Asia region, following its successful debut at the storied British department store Harrods in London, last May.
Within the expanse of the custom-built structure that covers the entire roof of the pier, Pradasphere will showcase over 60 complete looks; exquisite accessories and material samples; artefacts that are rarely put on exhibition from the company's archive; timeline of collections and past and present campaigns.
Also on display are over 500 images and
videos, films created in collaboration with renowned masters of the
moving visual art such as Ridley Scott, Roman Polanski, Wes Anderson,
Ridley Scott and Yang Fudong, as well as architectural projects
conceived together with renowned masters of contemporary architecture
such as Rem Koolhaas/OMA and Herzog & De Meuron.
A library filled
with publications and a VIP lounge overlooking the harbour are also
installed within this unique structure.
To commemorate the first Pradasphere
exhibition in Asia, Prada has launched four groups of merchandises
that will be made available, exclusive to the Hong Kong market.
To
start with is the “rebirth” of Prada's iconic Temple print from
the FW2004 collection on calf leather handled Tessuto bags.
Available
in three iconic silhouettes - Prada Boston, shopping bags and backpacks - the classic
Graeco-Roman influenced print will adorn grey and alabaster-hued
bags.
What's more, the Temple printed bags too are set to be the hottest must-have carriers of the season and a highly coveted gift as well, as Christmas is just around the corner.
Furthermore, only three PRADA stores in Hong Kong will be
carrying the limited edition line, namely Canton Road, Elements and the
Pacific Place.
That said, now you have two solid reasons why you need to book your flight tickets now and head to the ever glamorous and chic City of the Fragrant Harbour.
Like the exhibition itself, which is
open the public on free admission, the exclusive Temple print collection will
be available at these stores from November 19 to December 5, 2014.
