Malaysia Hosts Jaeger-LeCoultre 180th Anniversary Celebration
Timepieces help us to keep our paces and the rhythm of our
movement in sync with time.
Back in the days of yore, timepieces are not only meant for timekeeping but to an extent, it is also a revered symbol of status among the rich and the prominent.
Since the last 180 years, storied Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre has constantly focused on its pursuit of perfection through creating inventions that are meant to be appreciated by bona fide aficionados, spanning layers of time and generation.
Recently, the watchmaker
celebrates its 180th
anniversary in pomp and grandeur in an exclusive celebratory event that took place in several selected countries around the world.
Malaysia, a well-known shopping destination for horlogerie enthusiasts from all over the region, was privileged to host the exhibition as well as a gala dinner.
Held at the Starhill Gallery, the fascinating exhibition, which took place from 5th to 8th of October, commemorated Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 9 wonders of the manufacturer’s iconic timepieces that have made great significance in the history of Swiss watchmaking.
Timepieces aside, the exhibition also highlighted on the skills of these unique creations, which encapsulated the expertise of the men and women of the Manufacture, guided by enduring quest for excellence; perpetual inventiveness; a willingness to question its fundamentals; and desire to rise to the wildest challenges.
“It is our responsibility to live up to Jaeger-leCoultre’s heritage and to ensure our future too has a glorious past. Our aim is to push the limits of what a watchmaker can possibly accomplish and achieve. This is precisely why we do what we do and I must admit that it all makes us quite proud. But there would not be any anniversary to commemorate without men and women like you who share our passion of high-watchmaking,” said Daniel Riedo, Chief Executive Officer of Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Of course, a celebration will never be complete without a gala dinner with Dato’ Sri Ng Yen Yen, Chairman of Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board as one of the honoured guests. Also spotted on that fabulous evening were celebrities Bernie Chan, Debbie Goh and Elaine Daly.
