Sortilège de Cartier Launched in Rome

There is something about Rome that captivates the attention and the imagination of the luxury brands. Perhaps, it is the plethora of architectural marvels that stand as witnesses and the ultimate testaments of time from the primordial days of the Roman empire to its cosmopolitan present.

On the other hand, maybe it is the ethereal and eternal air of old fashion glamour that the city exudes, thanks to the cult Hollywood films such as La Dolce Vita and Roman Holiday. But whatever the reason may be, the Eternal City has been chosen by the renowned Jeweller of the Kings Cartier as the perfect spot to unveil its latest High Jewellery collection called Sortilège de Cartier recently.

Designed as a tribute to femininity, the highly skilled artisans of Cartier delve into the new depths of creative horizons by taking their cues from the exciting (and intoxicating) world of perfumery.

Guided by a variety of fragrance genres, namely floral, eaux fraîches, fougères, citrus, heady scents and white flowers, and combined with the articulate artistry possessed by the Cartier jewellers for more than a century, it all culminates to a series of sixty exquisite high jewellery pieces for this newborn family.

Furthermore, the stunning high jewellery pieces are also crafted to surreally reflect the unparalleled grace and the delicate complexity of femininity, be it in the colours of the stones and the intricacy of the designs.

To celebrate the arrival of this majestic new haute joaillerie collection, Cartier has invited a coterie of notable guests to Rome for an exclusive preview and gala dinner just recently.

Held in the esteemed gardens of Villa Aurelia — a 17th century villa built by Cardinal Farnese in the heart of Rome, guests, all dressed up to their nines, made their way through the exiting green mazes to the Orangery, where a number of selected Cartier fine jewelleries were put on display.

Joining Bernard Formas, the President and CEO of Cartier International on the auspicious Roman evening were Cartier ambassadors Monica Bellucci and Fan Bing Bing — both were stunningly bedecked in Cartier fine baubles, perfectly complemented their designer evening wears — British actor Rupert Everett, Kassia Smutniak, Isabella Ferrari, Monica Gueritore, and Enrico Montesano just to name a few.

Later, in a secret garden within parameters of the villa, guests were led to their places for an enchanting symphony of aromas and flavours orchestrated by Emanuele Scarello, the celebrated head chef of Agli Amici restaurant near Udine.

As the dinner commenced, eight tableaux vivants depicting Rome in its glorious ancient days and the olfactory themes of the Sortilège de Cartier collection were presented to the guests.

Moreover, famous performers such as opera singer Lucio Dalla, Italian singer Nina Zilli and ‘it’ violinist Charlie Siem took the stage and wowed the guests with a slew of remarkable live performances.
