The Renaissance of Resort Elegance ... Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2011

I wonder if Massimo Giornetti (the current creative Director for Salvatore Ferragamo’s women’s ready-to-wear) looked to the stars for inspiration. In this context, those stars aren’t the constellations but the celebrities. Honestly speaking, it’s easy for me to guess who will be wearing what while viewing this Cruise/Resort collection for 2011.

For instance, when I saw the nautical striped shift with V-neck, I instantly thought of Estée Lauder’s Carolyn Murphy. Well, it could be Gwyneth Paltrow as well.

How about the pleated white number with below knee hem, capped sleeves and leather belt? That will be Tinsley Mortimer because that look is just so her.

I think I saw Lauren Santo Domingo in one of those ensembles, ditto Lindsay Lohan (the model’s name is also Lindsay but not Lohan) and celebrity stylist Rachel Zoë inside those one-shoulder dresses with diamante detailing on the shoulders. As for Paris Hilton, she doesn’t belong to any of the looks.

Though this may be his first attempt in conceiving Cruise/Resort collection for a highly revered fashion house, I believe Giornetti has done a really great job.

What’s more, the variety of looks, the ultra-feminine silhouettes, the sophisticated working palette and even the materials used say it all. Even the accessories that accompany the looks are as tempting as the ready-to-wear pieces too. And don’t forget to complete the looks with a pair of classic oversized Ferragamo sunglasses.
