The Scarlett Allure ... Mango FW 2010-11 Ad Campaign
Looks like actress Scarlett Johansson is spending more time in front of the camera lenses rather than at the film shooting locations these days.
Aside from being the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s fragrance and beauty range, the actress, who was shot to fame via Sofia Coppola’s film Lost in Translation, also made her comeback as the fall/winter 2010-11 ad campaign star of Spain’s much loved fashion export to the world, Mango (or MNG).
Famous for her voluptuous figure and sensuous curves, Scarlett, according to the brand, is the ideal embodiment of what a Mango woman should be - urban, enterprising and daring.
At the same time, the current spouse to sexy hot shot Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds is also brimming with sensuality, elegance and always keeping herself posted on what’s hot and not inside the fashion world. For the fall/winter campaign, the images were shot in Los Angeles by renowned photographer Mario Sorrenti.
Styled by Camilla Nickerson, hairstylist to the stars Oribe was roped in to do her hair while the makeup was done by makeup artist Stephane Marais, hence resulting a more mature and sophisticated Scarlett with her characteristic elegance and sex appeal.
Okay, so we are done with Mrs. Reynolds and what’s up with the clothes? As you can see, this year’s fall/winter is like a season of resurrection for retro trends, be it the 40s, 50s or yes, the 70s. While high end fashion houses are madly gaga in bringing back 50s-inspired trends to the runways, Mango chose to relive the sophisticated side of the groovy 70s.
Inspired by the trademark styles of notable pop culture icons of the era such as model turned actresses Anjelica Huston and Ali MacGraw, as well as supermodel Veruschka, the styles are intertwined with those of British country.
Think of trench coats, double-breasted jackets and well-tailored coats, as well as basic and thicker chunky handmade knits. Presence of the Bohemian fashion movement is also felt through the plethora of paisley prints, geometric jacquards and floral prints in offbeat colour combinations.
Mango fall/winter 2010-11 ready-to-wear and accessories collections are available now at all Mango stores worldwide.
